About

The Captain

Captain Erik Sigtermans grew up fishing in the Absecon Bay using a 17 foot Boston Whaler to master the surrounding creeks and sod banks. He developed a love for fishing at a young age, targeting striper and flounder in the bays and quickly realized that fishing was more than just something fun to do in the summer. He eventually moved onto a larger 24 foot HydraSport center console, learning that he enjoyed the thrill of fishing for mahi-mahi and wreck fish. He was able to pull together a large assortment of spots to fish from his experiences. Erik has plenty of experience fishing in the back bays and in the ocean, making trips with him all the more fun and relaxing.

The name Silly Willy came from Captain Erik's grandfather, William Lloyd, as he's the one who started the family's fishing lifestyle. He started out fishing in New Jersey as a child and as he got older, he shared his love of fishing with his family. He had quite a few boats during his time with us and he was know to be a pretty silly guy, so the name Silly Willy ended up sticking with him.  The torch was then passed to Erik's uncle, Eric Lloyd, who grew up in Absecon fishing and clamming commercially from his 13 foot Boston Whaler. Eventually, he moved up to a 17 foot Boston Whaler and used the boat until it was ultimately exhausted, which is where Erik's story starts. He inherited his exhausted old Whaler while he was growing up and with some learning, he remodeled the entire boat from the ground up, making it into a fishing machine. He learned as much as he could fishing in the back bays of Absecon, fishing creeks and sod banks for striper and flounder. Once he mastered the back bays, he moved into his larger boat and started all over again learning how to fish out in the ocean. Learning to fish in the ocean is what really sparked his love for fishing, so he got his Captain's license to start sharing the amazing experiences he has fishing with others.
